Climate Deaths Estimators – Terms and Conditions of Use

The climate deaths estimators known as “Model” and “Consequences” (together, the “Estimators”) are based on the research documented in:

The Estimators are exploratory research tools developed to illustrate potential climate-related mortality implications under different emissions pathways from a precautionary risk perspective. The methodologies, assumptions, datasets and outputs are subject to substantial uncertainties, limitations and ongoing refinement.
Results generated by the Estimators are illustrative and approximate only and should not be regarded as definitive predictions, forecasts, professional advice, or statements of fact. Users must exercise their own independent judgment when interpreting or relying on any outputs.
The underlying research, datasets, assumptions and calculation methods are continuously being reviewed and updated. As a result, outputs generated at different times may vary.
The Estimators are made available free of charge for informational, educational and research purposes, subject to these Terms and Conditions. Users may use and share outputs from the Estimators provided that:
- appropriate acknowledgement is given to the source research and Clarity Environment; and
- any use or communication of outputs appropriately recognises the uncertainties and limitations associated with the Estimators.
By downloading and using the Estimators, you acknowledge and agree that:
- you have read, understood and accepted these Terms and Conditions;
- if using the Estimators on behalf of an organisation or other entity, you are authorised to accept these Terms and Conditions on its behalf; and
- if you share the Estimators with any third party, you will make reasonable efforts to ensure that they are also made aware of these Terms and Conditions.
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- the Estimators are provided “as is” and “as available”;
- Clarity Environment makes no representation or warranty, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, suitability or fitness for any particular purpose of the Estimators or any outputs generated from them; and
- Clarity Environment excludes all liability for any loss, damage, cost or expense (including indirect or consequential loss) arising from or connected with the use of, or reliance upon, the Estimators.
Users assume all responsibility and risk associated with use of the Estimators and any interpretation or communication of their outputs.
Users agree to indemnify and hold harmless Clarity Environment, its officers, employees and contributors from any third-party claims, liabilities, damages or expenses arising from misuse of the Estimators or breach of these Terms and Conditions.
Clarity Environment reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time by publishing updated versions alongside the Estimators.
Clarity Environment welcomes feedback and encourages users to report errors, suggest improvements, and contribute constructively to the ongoing development of the underlying research and Estimators.
